Medical training at University of Cape Town. A spell in general practice before returning to UCT to specialise in general surgery. Spent four years as a consultant surgeon at Grootte Schuur Hospital and Tygerberg Hospital and entered private practice. Now practicing at Panorama Mediclinic.

Active in South African Medical Association and currently completing a term as a National Councillor. Locally, a past president and present chairman of the Tygerberg Boland branch of the South African Medical Association
